Comparison stops creativity.

Firstly, I hope you all enjoyed your bank holiday Easter weekend. Did you get many treats? My parents bought me a Thorntons egg with toffee pieces in the shell, it was awesome!

Anyway, this illustration is the next in the 'Tales of Creativity' charity series. The idea behind it is about how constantly comparing yourself to others, hinders you from producing good and original work. I'm sure a lot of us can relate to this! If you would like to see Karla's blog post about it you can click here. I really like the little 'strawberry girl' in this illustration, I may have to do a piece which just features her in the future!

As always, if you have any stories about the difficulties you have faced in the creative industries, please get in touch with Rich. His email is, I'm sure he would be happy to hear from you!

  1. I love your drawings, they are so nice. Wish i could draw lol hope you had a lovely Easter :3 xx

  2. I always see so much comparison particurlarly in blogging, girls comparing stats etc, it's far too competetive - which is very sad. You are right - creativity is one of a kind and is all about being 'just you.'
    Love the strawberry girl <3

  3. That egg sounds delicious! I think people just need to be themselves in the blogging and real world. Its important to not worry about the stats and do what you want to do, as that's the only thing that will make you happy x

  4. I agree with both of you! I think it's harder than ever nowadays with so many social media platforms. It's all too easy to just get sucked into comparing yourself to everyone else, but it's important to be unique and stand out. xxx

  5. I totally agree with this! Comparing ourselfs to others keeps us from seing and discover who we truely are and that affects a lot our creativity. And I agree with all the comments above, our blogs should always be about what we truely like and want to talk about, without thinking about views etc etc etc. And just like you said Carly it's important to be unique and stand out, we are all different from each others and that's an amazing thing! xx

    1. I've really been noticing it more than ever lately! I think I'm just going to focus on what I'm doing and trying to improve etc. It can be hard though! xxx

  6. love the whole idea behind these pieces of work, I think it is very relatable :D keep up the good work! xx
