Primary Colours

I decided to make an illustration inspired by primary colours as I realised that I've never been drawn to using them (I'm not too sure that I even like them!). I spotted the image below on Twitter, which is actually what got me thinking about them in the first place.

This is Jean-Charles de Castelbajac's limited edition heart-shaped stamp for the french postal service, which I think is so lovely! I'd be happy to receive this on a letter. You can read more about it here if you'd like.

What do you think about primary colours? They can be a little garish, but I think JC's sparing use of them actually looks amazing on this stamp.

  1. Your image really reminds of me traditional Scandinavian style art (like dala horses and such). You've really made them work well together here!

And I also love your new blog header! So sweet!

  2. As always I am very impressed. I certainly do like primary colours and I love to wear them all together but maybe that's just because I love bright colours way more than the average person.

  3. This little girl would look amazing on a stamp! I'd buy all of your stamps if you came out with a collection. ;)
